The characters are brought to life through Anne Ursu's poetic and thoughtful words as well as occasional illustrations: ten black-and-white images created by Erin McGuire are sprinkled throughout the book....
Then he meets the charismatic Richard Lovecraft, leader of a gang of neo-Nazi skinheads, and the feeling of being a part of a group gives Mikal an unprecedented sense of empowerment. Singer vivifies the attraction of the white power movement, drawing both the long, boring stretches spent playing video games and the heated moments of violence, set against a backdrop of sex and metal music....

Furry friends abound in new books A rodent similar in intellect to Despereaux in Kate Di Camillo's award-winning novel, Walter would have cringed at the comparison, for he was sensitive to Miss Pomeroy's favouritism towards mice in her published work. And not only was Bromberg a mouse, |
